7 Reasons to Become a Nail Technician
If you could wake up and have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be? Would you be working flexible hours? Inspiring others to feel their best? If so, you may have been born to be a nail technician!
At Don Roberts School of Hair Design, we love helping our students find a career they can love. That’s why we’ve put together this list of benefits to help you see if manicuring could be the career for you! Here are seven great reasons why becoming a nail technician could be your dream job.
1. Use Your Creativity
Are you an artist at heart? As a nail technician, you can spend your days playing with different colors, shapes, designs, and more. Clients are always requesting new looks, so it’s up to you to stay current with the latest trends. You may even find yourself creating a new trend!
If you prefer working hands-on in a creative environment, nail technology could be the way to go!
2. Work Flexible Hours
Not a fan of the typical nine to five schedule? As a professional nail artist, you can work flexible hours. Many salons or spas will allow you to choose a schedule that works for you – whether that’s working three days a week or full time. You can also work independently in your own salon suite or freelance. This means your work schedule would be entirely up to you!
3. Travel When You Want
If you work independently, not only can you choose your schedule, but you can also approve your own vacation days. When you’re the boss, you get to call all the shots! So that trip you’ve been dying to take to Beliz? Go ahead and take it! Just make sure to plan ahead so you don’t schedule clients during your trip.
4. You’re In Demand
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, manicurists and pedicurists have an above-average job outlook! Jobs are projected to grow 19% from 2019 to 2029, which is much faster than average. This data includes statistics from last year, meaning that not even a global pandemic can stop people from getting their nails done!
5. Do What You Love
We spend so much time at our jobs, you may as well be doing something you love. Were you always the one trying out the latest dip powder products, or practicing nail art in your free time? If so, why not turn your passion into your career! With a career in nail technology, you could show up to work every day excited to have some fun with your favorite clients!
6. Work in a Social Environment
If you are a people person, becoming a nail technician could be a perfect fit! This career allows you to make meaningful connections with not only your clients but also your coworkers. Salons and spas are social environments. This means that as a nail technician, you can work surrounded by a tribe of like-minded people!
7. Make a Difference
Our favorite reason to pursue a career in nail technology? You can leave work knowing you made a difference in other’s lives! This industry allows you to interact with your clients in a close, personal way. Gorgeous nails and great conversation can help your clients walk out your doors with newfound confidence. And knowing you help your clients look and feel their best? If you ask us, there is no better feeling in the world!
